Erik Bauer

Erik is co-founder of Creative Screenwriting Magazine. Erik led the round-table discussion of the 2007 South Dakota Film Fest. He will be leading a seminar on screenwriting this year.


Dawn Smallman

Dawn Smallman co-directed and produced Ridin' & Rhymin' (2006), a feature length documentary about cowgirl poet Georgie Sicking. The film won the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival’s Big Sky Award for best feature about the American West, received a Regional Arts and Culture Council grant and aired on Oregon and Wyoming PBS.

Her short documentary Richart (2002), about outsider artist Richard Tracy, screened at the Smithsonian’s Hirschorn Museum, the American Folk Art Museum, and the Andy Warhol Museum and aired on Oregon Public Broadcasting.

Dawn has produced documentaries for exhibits at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and Calgary's Glenbow Museum. She is currently producing a series of documentaries about a wetlands preserve in the Mojave Desert.


Jeff Zueger

Jeff Zueger is owner of Spectrum Films of Sioux Falls. He will be demonstrating filmmaking technology after the education sessions and on hand during the technology expo.


Wanda Goodman, Media & Public Relations Manager
South Dakota Office of Tourism

Wanda Goodman joined the South Dakota Office of Tourism in September 2006 as the Media & Public Relations Manager. She and her team work to tell the story of the South Dakota experience to local, regional and national media, while building strong media relationships with key media contacts.

Prior to joining the Office of Tourism, Goodman was the Public Relations Director for Insight Marketing Design in Sioux Falls. Her experience also includes copywriting and account service work. She earned her bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University, where she majored in journalism with an emphasis in advertising.

Goodman was born and raised on a farm southwest of Springfield, SD. She and her husband, Greg, share a home outside of Pierre.

Emily Currey, Film & Media Relations Representative
South Dakota Office of Tourism

Emily Currey is the Film & Media Relations Representative for the South Dakota Film Office. Currey works with communities and local groups in South Dakota to build awareness on the state's film industry; acting as a liaison between the national film industry and South Dakota's film industry. Currey markets the state to the film industry and works diligently to turn the eyes of location scouts, directors and producers in the direction of South Dakota.

Prior to joining the Film Office, which is part of the Office of Tourism, Currey worked for the South Dakota Department of Social Services as the Communications Director. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she majored in mass communications with an emphasis in integrated advertising and public relations.

Currey is a native of Watertown, South Dakota, and currently resides in Pierre.
